Softmap GeoTIFFTM is compatible with most geographic
information systems (GIS) software including ArcView, Mapinfo, Autocad
and Micro Station.
- File format: a Packbits compressed TIFF, 254 dpi, 256 colors*
(8 bits)
- Georeference file formats: TIFF (Geotiff), TAB (Map Info) and
TFW (World File)
- The numerical files are georeferenced in UTM NAD83. The mapsheets
created in NAD27 have been converted to NAD83 (conversion table
NTV2)
- The maps are supplied in NAD 83 but the grid can be in NAD 27
from the original design.
The software limits quadrant error to less than 150 micrometers relative
to the scale of the map. This high degree of precision results from
the accuracy incorporated into the design of the software. Softmap
transforms mapsheets geometrically using a 2nd degree polynomial equation
and 16 georeference points per mapsheet. This assures the required
precision. Moreover, the quality is further ensured through the radiometric
adjustments (brightness and contrast) to the computer image.
