Federal Maps Inc to Distribute
SoftMap Topographic Maps for the PC
Distribution pact expands
Federal Maps' topographic offerings and makes SoftMap
Technologies' products available through 500 dealers in
Canada, U.S. and Europe. |

SoftMap Technologies Inc. of Québec City has today
announced that it has inked a distribution pact with Federal
Maps Inc of Nepean, Ontario. Under the new agreement,
Federal Maps will distribute SoftMap's map visualization
software and its topographic maps through its network
of resellers spread throughout Canada, the U.S. and Europe.
''We are very excited to have Federal Maps as a distribution
partner,'' says Jean Tremblay, Vice President of SoftMap
Technologies, ''In addition to broad distribution they
bring vast market experience with topographic maps.''
Federal Maps will immediately distribute SoftMap's Topo50TM
software and 1:50,000 scale maps for Québec, Ontario,
Alberta and British Columbia, and SoftMap's Topo250TM
software and 1:250,000 maps for Québec and Canada.
Most titles will be available in French and English.
SoftMap Technologies is based in Québec City and
provides inexpensive and easy-to-use SoftMapTM
map visualization software for consumers and businesses
using maps on CD-ROM or network server. With SoftMap's
visualization software and maps, users can navigate seamlessly
through a map, accommodate multiple map themes, scales,
projections and datums, take measurements, identify key
place names, find addresses or routes, and print out variations
of the map and layered map data. SoftMap visualization
tools easily accommodate all types of maps and map data
including aerial photographs, vegetation maps, street
and road maps, and topographic mapsall precisely
and uniformly geo-referenced.
Federal Maps is the largest official distributor of Canada's
government maps. In additional to other lines of maps
and map products, the company distributes maps of the
National Topographic System, providing general-purpose
topographic map coverage of Canada. Specializing in topographic
maps, Federal Maps stocks more than 2000 Canadian topographic
maps, aeronautical charts and thematic maps produced by
the Canadian federal government and other sources.
