Points of
the Canadian Geodetic Network
are now available for SoftMap version 5
products. Check and consult the information of
thousands of points from Canadian
Base Network, Primary Vertical
Bench Marks, Federal 3-D
Densification Network and Federal
2-D Densification Network. Georeferencing of
maps, education, land surveying, Geocaching; useful
in many fields... and free!
Follow these instructions to install the database in
SoftMap:

1. Close SoftMap
5.
2. Download the file of the desired region:
British-Columbia,
Alberta,
Saskatchewan,
Manitoba,
Ontario,
Quebec,
Maritimes,
Newfoundland
and Labrador, Yukon,
Northwest
territories, Nunavut.
3. Extract downloaded file’s content on your hard
drive.
4. Copy the folder extracted at the previous step on
the following folder:
- French system: C:\Program Files\Fichiers communs\SoftMap
Shared 5\data\Wizard\GeoContext.
- English system: C:\Program Files\Common Files\SoftMap
Shared 5\data\Wizard\GeoContext.
5. Open SoftMap 5.
6. Go to File and select
Wizard.
7. In the wizard’s Database
page, select Canadian Geodetic
Network.

8. Click Next
until Finish.
Points are visible starting with the scale 1:250,000
(and more detailed). To get the information, select
a point and click Information .

SoftMap Plus
and SoftMap GPS Update, Version
4.95
The 4.95 Update includes the SoftMap
Plus and SoftMap GPS updates : Both must be installed simultaneously.

SoftMap
Plus version 4 is
a map data visualization software package that came
with all of the SoftMap
cartographic collections sold before 2007, such as topo50
or Québec topo20.
This update improves the stability of previous versions 4 of SoftMap Plus. It also includes the following new features:
- a new tool to display the elevation profile between 2 points on the map; the user must download elevation data (DEM) to use this tool: see FAQ.
- enables the transparent display of GeoTIFFs.

SoftMap
GPS links your GPS receiver
to the SoftMap Plus software in all our consumer products
offering topographic maps of Québec and Canada.
This update improves the stability of previous versions
(from version 4.2) for the owners of a SoftMap
GPS license. For the
others, the Update installs a free 30 day evaluation
version to enable you to use all the functions available
in the module during this period.
This Update includes the following new features:
- fixes the track problem for the compatible Lowrance
receivers;
- adds the possibility of connecting directly the
Garmin models that have a USB connector.

update will install the most recent postal codes for your
Québec topo20 product. It's only needed
for these volumes:
- Vol 1-1, regions 01-11 : Bas-St-Laurent/Gaspésie/Îles-de-la-Madeleine
- Vol 2-2, regions 03-04 : Capitale-Nationale/Mauricie
- Vol 3-1, regions 06-13-16 : Montréal/Laval/Montérégie
- Vol 3-2, regions 05-12-17 : Estrie/Chaudière-Appalaches/Centre-du-Québec
- Vol 4-1, regions 07-14-15 : Outaouais/Lanaudière/Laurentides
