SoftMap - GPS Software for PDA: Palm OS device & Pocket PC

Will enable you to use the maps in the different SoftMap products in your Palm Powered^TM device. Define the limits of the maps that you want to upload in your Palm and view them with the PathAway software (sold separately). To use those new functions in the Upgrade, you need a Palm Powered^TM device, the SoftMap GPS software and the software PathAway. The only limit as to the size of the maps that you can transfer is the available memory of your PDA. The maps are highly compressed and will take little space in your handheld. For example, a map at the 1/50,000 scale covering 16 square kilometres will have 250 KB and a 4 square kilometres map at the 1/20,000 scale will have 450 KB.

Attach a compatible GPS (Global Positioning Satellite) device to your Palm, and use PathAway to navigate. Maps from Anywhere and SoftMap
Import your own maps using PathAway Tools, or Desktop Mapping Software such as SoftMap. Get maps from mapping web sites, CD-ROM, scanned, or digitally photographed. Maps are highly compressed and can be any size and resolution that fits within your device memory.

Intelligent Moving Map Display
As you travel, PathAway will center the map on your position. When you exit the boundary of one map and enter another, PathAway can be setup to automatically switch to the new map. You can even have the software set to automatically zoom in to the map of highest detail when you reach it's boundaries. Great for when you're entering a destination point that requires precision detail.

PathAway supports the most popular Map Projections and Datums, for precision location pinpointing.

Personal Points of Interest/Waypoints
Capture unlimited points and record detailed names and descriptions. Even attach your own custom icon for easy visual scanning.

Create routes quickly by simply clicking points on a map, or by choosing from your point database.

Navigation Warnings and Alarms
Proximity detection alerts you to upcoming points along your route, or when you get close to one of your points. If you're following a route, PathAway will alert you if you've strayed off-track.

Onscreen Trip Statistics on a Customizable Dashboard
